Safety & Reporting
1. Safety on VIDA
VIDA is designed for adults to discover people, communicate and form genuine social or dating connections.
Online interaction and meeting people in person can involve risk. No dating or social platform can guarantee another person's identity, intentions, honesty or safety.
This Safety & Reporting information explains:
- precautions members can take;
- how VIDA's blocking and reporting tools work;
- what kinds of concerns should be reported;
- how VIDA may investigate safety matters;
- when information may be preserved or disclosed; and
- where urgent or criminal concerns should be directed.
This document should be read together with the Terms of Use and Community Guidelines.
2. VIDA is strictly 18+
VIDA is only for people aged 18 or over.
Do not create or use a VIDA account if you are under 18.
If you reasonably believe that a VIDA member is under 18, report the account.
Do not:
- seek romantic or sexual contact with somebody you know or reasonably believe is under 18;
- assist a minor in accessing VIDA;
- ask a minor to create sexual material;
- sexualize, groom or exploit a minor; or
- distribute, request, possess, advertise or link to child sexual abuse material.
VIDA may restrict or remove an account where there is a credible concern that the member is underage.
3. Understand what verification means
VIDA may offer photo verification.
A Photo Verified badge means only that the member completed the applicable VIDA photo-verification process.
It does not mean VIDA has:
- performed a criminal background check;
- verified a government identity document;
- confirmed the member's legal name;
- confirmed relationship status;
- confirmed financial trustworthiness;
- investigated the person's history;
- guaranteed the person's intentions; or
- determined that the person is safe to meet.
Continue to use ordinary safety precautions with verified and unverified members.
4. Protect your personal information
Be cautious about sharing information that could be used to locate, impersonate, exploit or financially harm you.
Consider limiting disclosure of:
- your home address;
- workplace details;
- personal telephone numbers until you are comfortable;
- financial information;
- bank or payment details;
- passwords;
- one-time security codes;
- identity-document images;
- travel documents;
- intimate photographs or videos; and
- information that answers account-security questions.
VIDA will never need another member to obtain your email password, bank PIN or one-time security code.
If another member pressures you to disclose sensitive information, treat that as a warning sign.
5. Money, scams and financial safety
Do not send money or financial credentials to somebody merely because you met them through VIDA.
Be especially cautious if somebody:
- quickly asks for money;
- describes an emergency requiring a transfer;
- asks for gift cards or cryptocurrency;
- asks you to invest or trade;
- claims they need money to travel to meet you;
- asks for banking credentials or verification codes;
- asks you to receive or transfer money for them; or
- creates pressure, secrecy or urgency around a financial request.
VIDA prohibits romance scams, fraudulent investment schemes and financial solicitation through the service.
If you suspect a scam, stop the financial interaction, preserve relevant evidence and report the account.
Where money has already been transferred, consider contacting the relevant bank, payment provider or competent authority promptly.
6. Moving conversations off VIDA
Adults may consensually exchange telephone numbers, WhatsApp details, social-media accounts or other contact information.
However, moving a conversation away from VIDA reduces VIDA's ability to:
- preserve the conversation;
- identify abusive messages;
- investigate what happened;
- enforce VIDA rules concerning the off-platform service; or
- assist with evidence from that external service.
VIDA cannot monitor or control conversations taking place through WhatsApp, Telegram, social media, telephone calls, email or other external services.
Be cautious if somebody aggressively pressures you to leave VIDA immediately, particularly where this is combined with a financial request, suspicious link or other warning sign.
7. Meeting somebody in person
You decide whether, when and where to meet another member.
For an initial meeting, consider precautions such as:
- meeting in a public place;
- telling a trusted person where you are going;
- maintaining control of your own transport;
- keeping access to your telephone;
- avoiding dependence on the other person for accommodation or transport;
- remaining aware of your drinks and belongings;
- leaving if you feel unsafe; and
- avoiding giving somebody immediate access to your home.
Do not allow embarrassment, politeness or pressure to prevent you from ending an interaction that feels unsafe.
If you are in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency service or police rather than relying on a VIDA report.
8. Consent and sexual safety
Consent must be freely given and may be withdrawn at any time.
Agreeing to:
- chat;
- flirt;
- discuss sexual topics;
- exchange contact details;
- meet in person;
- enter somebody's home; or
- engage in previous sexual activity
does not create permanent consent to later sexual activity.
Pressuring, threatening, coercing or forcing somebody into sexual activity is prohibited.
Sexual assault, sextortion, non-consensual intimate-image sharing and threats to publish intimate material should be treated as serious safety matters.
Where appropriate, preserve evidence and contact competent local authorities in addition to reporting the account to VIDA.
9. Commercial sexual services, trafficking and exploitation
VIDA is not a marketplace for sexual services.
Using VIDA to buy, sell, advertise or commercially arrange sexual services or paid sexual content is prohibited under the Community Guidelines.
VIDA also prohibits trafficking, forced prostitution, forced labour, coercive exploitation, recruitment for exploitation and other forms of trafficking in persons.
Warning signs of exploitation may include:
- another person controlling someone's communications;
- threats or violence;
- confiscation of identity or travel documents;
- debt used to control a person;
- restrictions on movement;
- somebody being forced to meet clients;
- recruitment involving deception about work or travel; or
- a person appearing unable to leave a situation freely.
If you believe somebody may be in immediate danger or a victim of trafficking, contact the appropriate competent authority or emergency service.
VIDA may preserve and disclose relevant information where required or permitted by law in connection with suspected trafficking or exploitation.
10. Child sexual exploitation and abuse
VIDA has zero tolerance for child sexual exploitation and abuse.
VIDA prohibits:
- child sexual abuse material;
- grooming;
- sexual exploitation of minors;
- seeking sexual contact with minors;
- facilitating prostitution or trafficking involving minors;
- sexualized imagery of minors; and
- using VIDA to arrange or facilitate offences against children.
Do not redistribute suspected child sexual abuse material in order to report it.
Report the account or content without forwarding the material to other members.
VIDA may preserve relevant evidence, remove or restrict material and accounts, and make reports required by applicable law.
Because VIDA is operated by VIDA NETWORK LTD, a UK company, applicable UK online-safety law may require VIDA to report detected and previously unreported child sexual exploitation and abuse content to the United Kingdom National Crime Agency.
Applicable Colombian law also imposes obligations concerning known criminal conduct and sexual exploitation involving minors.
These legal reporting obligations operate independently of whether a member asks VIDA to make a report.
11. What to report to VIDA
Report another member where you reasonably believe there is a genuine safety or rules concern, including:
- suspected underage use;
- threats or violence;
- stalking or serious harassment;
- sexual coercion or assault;
- child sexual exploitation or abuse;
- trafficking or exploitation;
- scams or fraud;
- extortion or blackmail;
- non-consensual intimate material;
- impersonation;
- serious privacy violations;
- commercial sexual-services solicitation;
- credible threats of serious criminal conduct; or
- another serious Community Guidelines violation.
Reports should be made in good faith.
Do not report somebody merely because they rejected you, stopped replying, blocked you, are transgender, use VIDA's Trans category or are not somebody you wish to date.
12. How to report or block a member
Where available, use VIDA's in-product Report or Block controls associated with the relevant member or profile.
Blocking and reporting are separate actions.
Blocking is intended to stop authenticated interaction and mutual access through VIDA according to the platform's blocking rules.
A block does not automatically submit a safety report.
A report gives VIDA information that may be reviewed for moderation or safety purposes.
For safety or reporting questions that cannot appropriately be submitted through the available in-product tool, contact:
Email: [email protected]
Suggested subject: Safety Report
Do not send passwords, banking credentials or unnecessary sensitive information.
13. What blocking does and does not do
Blocking another member restricts the blocked relationship within authenticated VIDA.
Blocked members should no longer be able to find or access each other through the normal authenticated VIDA discovery, profile and messaging experience.
Blocking does not:
- erase historical records that VIDA lawfully retains;
- delete evidence needed for reports or safety;
- control what somebody does outside VIDA;
- block telephone calls, WhatsApp or social-media contact;
- remove information already copied or screenshotted by another person; or
- necessarily prevent somebody from encountering information that VIDA makes publicly accessible on the open web while unauthenticated.
If somebody continues unwanted contact outside VIDA, use the blocking/reporting tools provided by that external service and consider contacting competent authorities where appropriate.
14. How VIDA may investigate reports
VIDA may review information reasonably necessary to assess a report or safety concern.
Depending on the matter, this may include:
- the report itself;
- relevant profile information;
- relevant VIDA messages;
- account and interaction information;
- block information;
- verification information or evidence;
- prior safety reports;
- moderation history;
- relevant technical or security information; and
- information lawfully provided by another person or authority.
Access is limited to authorized personnel according to VIDA's privacy and moderation controls.
A report does not automatically establish that misconduct occurred.
VIDA may consider credibility, context, available evidence, seriousness, previous conduct and risk to other members.
15. Possible action after a report
Depending on the circumstances, VIDA may:
- take no action where a report is unsupported;
- request additional information;
- remove content;
- warn a member;
- restrict a feature;
- temporarily suspend an account;
- permanently ban an account;
- preserve evidence;
- prevent attempts to evade a ban; or
- disclose information to a competent authority where required or permitted by law.
VIDA does not promise a particular result merely because a report was submitted.
Serious safety, exploitation, fraud or legal concerns may justify immediate restriction while a matter is assessed.
16. Privacy of reports
Safety reports are not public profile information.
VIDA does not ordinarily tell a reported member the identity of the reporter merely because a report has been submitted.
However, VIDA cannot guarantee absolute anonymity in every circumstance.
Information may need to be disclosed where:
- required by law;
- necessary to respond to legal proceedings;
- required by a competent authority;
- reasonably necessary to protect rights or safety; or
- disclosure is otherwise legally permitted and necessary.
VIDA will avoid unnecessary disclosure of report information.
Report and investigation data is processed under the Privacy & Data Policy.
17. Evidence and account deletion
Deleting an account does not necessarily destroy safety evidence.
Where reasonably necessary and lawful, VIDA may preserve:
- messages;
- reports;
- verification submissions;
- referenced verification photographs;
- moderation records;
- historical identity information;
- blocking protections;
- security information; and
- other relevant evidence
after an account has been deleted, suspended or banned.
Retention may be necessary to protect other members, prevent repeated abuse, investigate misconduct, comply with law or establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Retained information remains subject to access restrictions and may not be used for unrelated purposes merely because it has been preserved.
18. Authorities and legal requests
VIDA may preserve or disclose information where required by applicable law or a valid legally binding request.
VIDA may also make a report to a competent authority where required by law or where applicable law permits VIDA to report a credible serious safety or criminal concern.
VIDA will not treat an informal request from an unknown person claiming to be an authority as automatically valid.
Where legally appropriate, VIDA may verify the authority, scope and validity of a request before disclosing non-public member information.
Nothing in this section prevents VIDA from taking urgent lawful action where necessary to address an immediate and credible risk to life or serious physical safety.
19. Complaints about safety or moderation decisions
A member may contact VIDA where they believe:
- a genuine safety report was not handled appropriately;
- content was removed in error;
- their account was suspended or banned in error; or
- another moderation or safety decision affecting them was mistaken.
Current contact:
Email: [email protected]
Provide enough information for VIDA to identify the relevant account, report or decision.
Do not send passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.
VIDA may review the available information and take appropriate action.
Submitting a complaint does not guarantee that the original decision will be changed.
Before commercial launch, VIDA must ensure that its reporting and complaints procedures satisfy any applicable requirements concerning accessibility, usability, transparency and handling of complaints.
20. UK Online Safety Act
Because VIDA is operated by VIDA NETWORK LTD, a UK company and allows users to interact with other users, the VIDA operator must assess and comply with the UK Online Safety Act 2023 where the service falls within its scope.
Applicable operator obligations may include:
- completing and keeping an illegal-content risk assessment;
- assessing how VIDA could be used to commit or facilitate priority offences;
- implementing proportionate safety measures;
- taking appropriate action concerning illegal content;
- operating accessible content-reporting tools;
- operating an accessible complaints procedure;
- keeping required records;
- reviewing relevant risk assessments;
- explaining applicable safety protections in VIDA's terms and policies; and
- complying with applicable statutory reporting requirements for child sexual exploitation and abuse content.
These are obligations of the VIDA operator.
The inclusion of this section does not represent that every launch-time Online Safety Act assessment, record or reporting integration has already been completed.
VIDA must complete the applicable compliance work before or within the legally required period after launch.
21. Children's access assessment
VIDA's rules prohibit users under 18.
However, an 18+ rule by itself does not automatically remove applicable UK children's-access assessment duties.
Before or within the legally required period after the service becomes subject to the relevant UK requirements, VIDA must complete and keep an appropriate children's access assessment to determine whether the service is likely to be accessed by children.
If applicable law determines that VIDA is likely to be accessed by children, additional child-safety risk-assessment and protection duties may apply even though VIDA's membership rules remain 18+.
VIDA must keep the assessment under review as required by applicable law.
22. Colombia safety obligations
VIDA Colombia primarily serves people in Colombia.
Applicable Colombian law contains specific protections concerning sexual exploitation and abuse of minors and duties concerning known criminal conduct involving minors on information networks.
Applicable Colombian law also addresses trafficking in persons carried out or facilitated through information technologies, mobile applications, social networks and online platforms.
VIDA will maintain internal rules and safety practices intended to prevent its service being used for child sexual exploitation, trafficking and other serious unlawful exploitation.
Where Colombian law requires reporting, preservation, cooperation or another response in connection with a relevant safety matter, VIDA will comply with the applicable obligation.
The fact that VIDA's operator is a UK company does not remove Colombian safety obligations that legally apply to VIDA Colombia or conduct occurring in Colombia.
23. Emergencies and immediate danger
VIDA is not an emergency-response service.
VIDA does not guarantee that a report or support message will be reviewed immediately.
If you or another person faces immediate danger, serious violence, sexual assault, kidnapping, trafficking, medical emergency or another urgent threat, contact the appropriate local emergency service, police or competent authority.
Where safe to do so, you may also report the relevant VIDA account so VIDA can consider account and evidence-preservation action.
Do not delay seeking emergency assistance while waiting for VIDA to respond.
